TCF – The Cheezburger Factory
Update @ 6/12/2007 @ 6:30 am PST: A few TCF users have submitted some pr0n n scat pix. We’re working to clean up the mess, spray down the machine, sterilize it, etc etc. While it’s down, feel free to continue submitting your creations via email. We’ll work in a more secure version of TCF as soon as tericheezburger can code it. Thanks for all the really good submissions! We’ll be moving these to the FP throughout the day!
Update @ 6/11/2007 8:00 pm PST: Tericheezburger coded a little something that works around the 1000 picture limit.

We created a little tool to submit photos directly to ICHC.
We call it The Cheezburger Factory: see it here.
We had a awesome team of private beta testers (Team 42) who provided a lot of useful feedback.
The private beta is now opened up to the public.
How does it work?
- You can upload a picture, and soon submit a photo through a photobucket login (coming soon).
- Add a caption.
- Preview your creation until it’s perfect!
- Submit your photo to ICHC — or to the other folks on the site for captioning.
- Photobucket JWidget integration is coming in the next version update — that means you can upload direct from your BUCKET.
- If you submit a photo from flickr, please make sure you ask for their permission, or use a creative commons image. Flickr folks are very sensitive about their digital rights, or the auspice of enforcement. Please play nice.
- Then your peers, friends, and family can vote — as long as you have a WordPress account — it takes less than a minute to make one — . Vote here on ICHC.
- Once your submissions hits a nice amount of votes… guess what? IT GOES LIVE!
- Now the two burgers will add tags, and clean it up a little prior to going live, but this changes the dynamic of how submissions currently work.
- So go have fun captioning yours or someone elses submission.

Though TCF is open to the public, there are still a few beta-style bugs that have to be knocked out and we’re super sorry that some of the entries got lost in the process. I, for one, didn’t anticipate how hugely popular this would be already.
I’m working with the head cheezburgers and people at Photobucket to find a solution.

Oh, and if you like the Lolcat image that you create, we recommend that you add it straight away to your own Photobucket Album too so you can find/link to it easier. Looks like we could see several hundred new lolcat pictures daily! Wow!

Uh, as of right now, the original pictures have been bumped back to page 10 and counting by someone spamming with various pictures and swear words.
Sounded like a nice idea, but I don’t think this is going to work unless someone approves the posts before they get placed for voting. Having to have the posts approved would likely make most of these jerks go away.

What in the name of all that’s holy is that kitten snuff photo doing on the site??? Good God, I feel completely ill!!! The upload tool needs to be shut down until that sort of sick, twisted crap can be prevented. Whoever uploaded that needs serious psychiatric help.
I love this blog. I come here every day and I love the comments left by the people who come here respectfully, in a spirit of fun and friendship. That someone would do this to a space I enjoy so much outrages me so completely, well, there just aren’t words.

I hate to do this to you, Yvi. I’m sorry. “Kitten snuff” is pictures or film of people killing kittens. The one I saw this morning was a collage of multiple screen captures from a film. Apparently, in certain parts of the world, it is considered erotic to watch women in stillettos stomp kittens or other small animals to death. They’re also called “squish” or “crush” films. In my wildest dreams I never could imagine there would be people out there who would find that erotic, but I guess there are all kinds of sickos on the internet.
The images on the blog this morning were incredibly horrific. I sincerely wish I had a way to claw those visuals right out of my brain.

I’d just like to point out a common misconception I’ve been seeing here: CreativeCommons != free use. For example, all of my pictures are (currently) released under the by-nc-nd license, which would disallow their use for making lolcats, since it doesn’t allow derivatives (nd). I’m considering relicensing them all under by-nc-sa, which allows derivatives — but the Share Alike part of the license means that any derivative works must be released under the same license, which includes non-commercial (nc). As I understand it, that would disallow it from use here as well.

Boy, don’t usually have time (or anything original) to post here but just want to say I’m so sorry for cheez and everybody else that has taken this abuse. I come here everyday for laughs and really appreciate what you guys do and the effort you all put into it. It sucks out loud that people would abuse you and the site this way! I’ve worked with animals – in rescue and fostering – for many years and know what some disturbed humans on our planet are capable of. I’m just sorry the naive among us (bless you for remaining so) had to see it! Hope you guys can figure out a way to filter out these sickos – and BRAVO to you for keepin’ on!
