I have to be very careful when I am shopping, to not pay too much attention to what other people are putting in their grocery baskets. Actually, this only applies to the lotion aisle. Because if someone “puts the lotion in the basket” I *will* L O L. And then people look at me like I’m an idiot.

Serial killers are created by a specific set of pathologies in their psyches, not internet memes.

Slythwolf, I am a psychology professor, and I can tell you that both factors are involved. Yes, some people are prone to violence. But, violence in the media is also a huge factor in bringing out those tendencies in susceptible people. There’s tons of research on this. I’ll be happy to provide references on this if you want.
Kristy, I wish I could “lighten up” but when you’ve been a sexual assualt victim (like I have been), it’s just kind of hard to find a video about a man kidnapping, torturing, and killing a woman to be funny.
I’m sure some people will say that if this sort of stuff bothers me, I should just ignore it. But, ignoring violence in the media doesn’t protect you from the people who are influenced by it. I’ll bet that many of the kids killed at Columbine had tried to ignore violent video games. It didn’t stop them from being killed, did it?
Also, I DO try to avoid depictions of violence on the internet. It’s just too upsetting, given my history. But I thought a site featuring cute pictures of kittehs would be SAFE for me to look at! I honestly don’t think it’s fair to victims to post this kind of stuff here.

Judy….as an ex-victim myself, I would like to empathize with you. But, all joking aside, if I felt as you do I would probably have said something similar. However, these wonderful who visit ICHC were not trying to offend anyone! They just see the world differently-we should be happy for them to be able to be so lighthearted!

killing to eat and killing because of a mental aberration are two very different things. the killer in the movie was very sick, (mentally and image wise, YEEEECH!) like judy, i come to this site for fun and happiness and because so far it’s the one place i’ve found that is really nice. the people are nice, the captions are sweet, and the kitties are really cute. (i was bounced from an ETIQUETTE site for telling some one to be nicer, GO FIGURE!!!). i have a snake, the snake eats mice which i have to buy and feed to him. not everything in life is hearts and flowers, bug come on guys! the nastiness of that music video does not match the wonderful niceness of this site. nice is a quality that is hard to come by in this world and should not be trivialized or taken for granted. despite the fact that i have watched, (and enjoyed), silence of the lambs, it is not funny especially not like this.

no, she never said that. however, my father told me that if i was going to say anything to make sure it was true, and to not go around hurting people and grossing them out just because i could. to purposely make people uncomfortable especially in places they should be able to relax is very rude and unkind. and i defy you to tell me what wasn’t nice about what i posted above. i liked the movie, but it is not appropriate here. if i wanted to be less than nice, i would say that people who say things like “lighten up” and “don’t read to much into it” know that they have done something offensive and are trying to make those people who they hurt feel stupid. well it’s not working here. i did not like the captions and i have every right to say so. you do like them. fine. you may look at them or watch that music video as much as you like, but i find them offensive and distasteful and think that they do not fit the overall theme of this site, which is a site i like very much and visit often. you do not know me. i do not know you. i was commenting about this site and the atmosphere it projects and i do not think that you should be making unwarranted personal judgments.
