OOPS. We adopted two kitties Saturday from KC’s Kitty Cat Connection. But we were primed and ready for little kitties (the 7 and 13-year-old girl cats’ verdicts are still out).

All my cats are rescues, too. Coco Chanel right out of the pound with her mom and siblings and they had run out of time. They were last minute saves. Armani was on this way to the pound and Max Factor was through Kitten Rescue. Rescue animals are great and I am glad there are organizations who do it because I can’t go into a shelter and I have nothing but pure reverence for those who do.

All of my pets over the years were rescues too, right off the street babies in fact. Shelters, babies in need off the streets- no difference than any pet you’d find in a shop as far as love and affection they give you. My babies are in the double digits in long happy years of life too so no time differences either. A new best furry (or feathery) friend can come from anywhwhere
please drop it again.. maybe that will get rid of some of that ugly

We adopted an 8-year old kitteh at the SPCA in San Francisco- he was cranky at the shelter but became a huge lurve-sponge at home. We had him another 8 happy years after that. So adopt older kittehs (and puppehs) (and lolruses) too!

Mah two gurlkitiz were kittens of rescued mummacats (where someone was kind enough to take in stray preggerz mummah but needed not 5 add’l kittunz) … both my girls are spayed of COURSE….
Bastien was a stray, he ‘dopted us. We think he had a family in the neighborhood who maybe moved without him or he got lost too far away to be found again. He used to have tags, is neutered, and has been all-four-paws declawed. He started coming around looking skinnier and skinnier with no tags and I started feeding him. When September came around last year and the weather started getting colder, I put a collar on him to see if anyone removed it for a few days. He came back with collar always.
I took him to the vet, expecting him to have FELV or something …. paid them lotsabux to check him out and board him until all the bloodwork came back… he was completely clean of everything – didn’t even have fleas.
We brought him inside. Aside from his bizarre fixation with pooping on the floor, (and the reception he got from the girls) he’s been a most wonderfully happy kitty. We were so happy when he finally relaxed enough to PLAY.
He now has shiny glossy coat, insists on sleepin’ next to mummaz whenever there’s naptime to be had, and is incredibly docile. 
We luvz him a lot.

My kitty is a rescue as well. With no more than 3 weeks, the little thing was left alone on a town square. The white littlle thing, with big blue eyes, was spotted hunting people around. Faroshoous!
I think he was left behind just because his tail is kinda weird, it’s like someone has cut it or is atrophied (is it a word?). Of course it didn’t stop him from being energetic and lovely, just like every other cat. And, obviously, beautiful.
I think Enoki and Finch will be my last kittens. Dis Mommie is too old to go through kittenhood aginz. I look in the windows at the PetsMart and tear up. But with 3 dogs, 2 cats, 1 bird and uncountable dustbunnies-and noez monies- the inn she is f-u-l-l. I not be a “collector” of anything but sheepie stuff- the ones dat don’t eat. But when it’s time, I willz adopted an adult kitteh to snorgle. Sigh.

Is sad. When I tookd Bastien to the vet to see if him had FELV and stuff…. Huzbin and me wuz prepared for writings of big munnychek to a no-kills sheltar to fynd Bastien a homes if him wuz FELV/FIV pozitiv. But him wuznt… so we keeps him, tookd da munny to da ztor, buyd more kitifuud and moar litar box.
PS: when Huzbin and me has hoominbaby(z), an dey growz up, and dey sez MUMMADADDEH AH WUNTZ A DOGGEH!!!! Exshully, Cheezburger Cat/Happycat is not a Russian Blue. I believe Mr./Ms. Happycat may in fact be a Chartreux or a British Blue Shorthair.
I am agreeingz wif dappercat… .da russhin blue’s ears are WAY too big… happicat’s ears are vary small.
Looks LOTZ like british blue. The Chartreux has a very particular eye color, which happicat’s picture doesn’t show, although Happicat’s eyes look almost un-naturally brown.
I ‘dopted teh doggeh! Benn less than 24 hrs. I am a cat/bird nerd but a friend of mine is going thru “life changes”(not THE CHANGE) and asked me to take her 80lb lab mix. i did. took him to vet. 200.00 moneez. woth evry penny. he beeg sweet “pussycat”. Heer he beez…” Him was sleep in cage, all kyuuuuuuuuuteness and fluffernuffrness…well, i filleded out paperworks an camed bak for kitteh…’cep somebody putted a ball in his cayge in meentime??? an schweeeeeet shnuggly sllllleeeeeepy bebekitteh was now PSYCHOBOUNCYKITTEH!!! BOING BOING BOING!! I sez Yep–dis perfeck kitteh! An him waz.
An my Snickakitteh camed over one nite wif boyfriend’s friend. Him put dis eeettty-beety kitteh down in front of BadCat and sez “Meet da KING.” Well, eeeety-beety bebekitteh don know nuffin about roylty, apparently, bcuz himz wobbled up to BadKitteh on his eeeeety-beeety pawzez, and himz gived BadKitteh a beeg SCHMACK!!!! acrost da noze.

My tabbykitteh had died
an I wanted a kitten, so I went to sheltr all winter. No bebekittehz in winter!
Our Maine Coon kitteh #1 (that we got from the shelter, which had labeled him DSH – vet clued us in when at 5 months he was bigger than our adult kitteh) passed away suddenly and we wanted a new kitten SO BAD to keep our pretty calico company! (We had gotten her from shelter as adult kitty.) No babycats at shelter ‘tall ‘tall! Scrutinized ads in paper every day – finally got one from a family that didn’t spay their cat – torn between gratitude and desire to scold! Mama cat was tiny black kitteh, maybe 6-8 pounds, babycat was tiny all-black mini-kitteh and darling… then he got bigger… and bigger… and his tail poofed out and his ear-tufts came up and he grew a ruff… vet said yup, Daddy musta been ANOTHER Maine Coon! Still have him. He weighs 16 pounds and loves his people.
When pretty calico passed on, we got a rescue kitten who was raised on KMR by the vet’s receptionist. Very very people-oriented (I hear that’s common with rescue kittens?) He is full of personality and energy and keeps big old Maine Coon #2 on his toes.

Someday when Army lets me live someplaces in America for more than a few months at a time, I rescue kittehs! My fambly has 5 kittehs! Vester was our first; my momma found Goober, Marvin and Tooti at the shelter; and then Pretty Tooti was a stray that just kept coming every day and demands we gived her food, so we did. My little sister and momma clean litter boxes several times a day (phew!)

hm, i’ve been thinking about taking pics of some cats at our local shelter and put funny text on them to post here… maybe this would help them to find a foreva home.
i go to the shelter on saturdays to pet all the sad kitties.
i’d have to ask permission tho for taking pics and posting them here tho, but i’m afraid explaining ichc to the ppl at the shelter would be a very confusing experience for them.
but it would be so cool. been thinking about taking a pic of this one “persian cat” (dunno if i translated this correx? kitty with very long fluffy hair that looks like it ran into a wall wif its face XD)
now it looks all naked and stuff… could be labeled “i can has fur? 
” 
it had to be shaven when it got to the shelter, coz fuzzy hairs had gone all rasta style.
another kitty has to wear one of those thingies around its neck, that prevents it from scratching the face, could be “beep beep, i has a signal” or sumthing like that…

Drop Barbara off in back country w/out cell phone to see how well she enjoys abandonment without food. Has opposable thumbs, be just fine, right? Come back in two weeks and see how it went. Maybe she will know more about what she is talking about then.
UD: I would like nothing better. Especially without makeups and perfoomz too. She was constantly yappings on her cellphone (AT WORK!!) … it a little pink gurly RAZR. She always yellin’ at her kid and at her husband like she knowz everything…. she did it b/c she knew we could hear her so it was like she was showing off for us for how she makes her pplz behave.
I loathed her. And when she was “listening” to you, her mouth hung open like nobody’s business… Difference between Barbara chewing gum and a cow chewing cud is the intelligent and insightful look on the cow’s face!!!

I just dropped a kitten off at the shelter less than an hour ago. Is it okay to feel completely devastated?? It was in the wheel well of my truck this morning, and I’ve been wanting a kitten soooooooo bad, but with the cat I already have… only a mean old dominant cat would survive the initiation process.
Now I has flea – i mean LOVE – bites and sadness.

Jesse, I did that once too. It’s OK. Kittens generally do get adopted out of shelters unless something is very wrong indeed with them.
I was at a conference and there was this little black kitteh wandering around the grounds, all cute and friendly. I fed it bits of sandwiches and kept it in my room overnight then after the conference had ended I drove him up to the shelter in SF & dropped him off. I told them they were not to put him down unless he was incurably ill and that I would adopt him if nobody else did.
He was healthy, he got adopted (not by me), all ended well.

I wuz stil in coledge and had little monees, onct I only had qwarter and no fud, so I feeded my kitteh wit it. She wuz crippled frum deh treatments, and not qwite right in deh hed. She wanted onliest me, no uthers ppls. She skeered of all uther ppls. Sum yeers later, I had hoomin babee boy who had much sicknesses.
Dr sayd prolly lergic to ur kittehs. So triez to find homez for bof of kittehs. I beez SOOOO sad, specially cuz my Frieda so skeered and Frieda LOVED my baby boy.
My bad, bad, ex and now dead hubby, givez away my Frieda one nite wen I wuz at werk. He gives her to fambly with 3 little childrens and daddeh who did not reely want to have a kitteh. and he laffed at me wen I came home and cried. I wuz going to try to keep Frieda or find her home with nice old lady who wuld loves her. But she went to bad playce and ever since I worried that she cried for me and I wuz not there.
I am sitting here now with tears running down my face, and it has been 28 years since that happened.
I have rescue kitteh now. I got her as an adult and she is very happy with us. But she has to
be only kitteh, or she be mizerables and hides owt and nobuddy sees her except for eating timez. So I can have only Annie now. So I luves her lots and hopez it makez up for poor Frieda baby.

Hmmm…maybe “Lola” is a “come take me home” kinda name for kittehs. My daughter adopted a shelter cat named Lola last year (tigah kitteh with magical green eyes—made of luv). Changed her name, tho.
