damion, domino, and thornius, and yoli — this code was recently released on the popular social bookmarking website called digg.com , this code supposedly allows you to crack hd-dvd . This information is very important for public dissemination and discussion… however, instead of considering the implications of their actions, digg received dmca take down requests and censored the post… more posts popped up with the code… and they are also being censored…

it’s like lolfrendz asking us to take down captioned pictures of animals where the full story of the picture can not be determined based off of the picture alone and discussion of the implications of said pictures is not allowed.

taken to an extreme, if we acted the same way towards our posts, either through threats (we get a few), or requests (we also get a few), our site would slowly become void of pictures, and nearly all comments would be censored due to someone taking offense.

this post is not about the code… but how the post was censored. it’s relevant, and more of a meta blog post than anything.
