I am anal-retentive, AND I am known in some online circles as the “grammar nazi”.

But this site is *based* on intentional misspellings and twistings of grammar that would send Mr. Webster into a perpetual grave-spin.

That’s why I love this site so much! It totally takes me away from who I am and what I do every day. It’s escapism!

The use of internet slang, abbreviations, and memes is part and parcel of this site. It’s a loose parody of internet chat rooms, rpgs and other places where people communicate online in groups. This has become a common feature on many web communities, often spiraling from watching people who do not have English as their first language try to get to grips. It’s just another form of slang. A typo or piece of slang is commonly seen, and it becomes a running joke. It has nothing to do with not being able to use Standard English, to miss this is to misunderstand a large part of why this site exists.

Yeh, Matt, lay of wif de dissin uv de burgerzdudez. Sum uv us lik them lolz, n de stoopid writins is part uv de funneh.

And I’m sure most of us are quite capable of writing Standard English if we put our minds to it, but it adds a certain dimension of hilarity to imagine the cats’ voices (and we’re sure *they’re* not speaking Standard English).

Also, there’s the good old principle of the intarwebs (oops, so sorry); if you don’t like it, but it’s not hurting you, go read something else.

Hi matt, thanks for your feedback regarding the style of writing used by cheezburger when responding and moderating the site. I have no intention on stopping my writing like this because improper use of words, overuse of memes, incorrect spelling, and rampant bad grammar on picture captions are part of fitting to the site experience.

I disagree with your comment about how we only approve comments praising the site. Take a look at our most controversial post “me no rike remonade”.

If a a large amount of negative comments seems to be missing from the site it could be because the viewers who comment, tend to enjoy the site and don’t post too much negativity. In addition, aside from blatant link spam and a handful of disturbing comments, our comment moderation system is relatively unchanged and vanilla. Any issues you have with having images posted should lie with the wordpress implementation.
