“Coon” is an offensive racial slur for black people, derived from “baracoon”, the name of the cage they were kept in while waiting to be loaded onto ships and sent overseas. To be safe in public, and to not look like an idiot on the internet, you should always refer to a racoon by its proper name. derp dee doo.
The comment was: “Is that a raccoon tail he has? Did he squish a coon?!”
Clearly, this demonstrates that this was not meant as a racial slur against black people. Look at the context. Context is everything!
‘Coon’ also can refer to the Maine Coon breed of cat.
