It wouldn’t be funny if people were spraying cats with water just for fun. But bathing is something you have to do to cats sometimes. Just like clipping their claws or bringing them to the vet. They hate all of that stuff, but none of it is particularly traumatic or cruel, and they’ll forget all about it as soon as it’s over.

Have you ever seen a little kid get really upset about getting a vaccination, and thought it was kind of funny/cute just because they were being so melodramatic and it really wasn’t a big deal? And they had to get the vaccination anyway, so you may as well make light of the situation? Cats getting baths is kind of funny in the same way.

Yeah because wanting to rid your beloved pet of blood-sucking, itch-inducing parasitic fleas means you’re a cat hater.
People do it all the time. Get over yourself.

The cat doesn’t like it at first, but if you regularly bathe them (not that you really need to unless you have a serious flea infestation) they quickly learn to enjoy it. Ever hear of Turkish Vans? Breed of cat? They like to SWIM for crying out loud. Not all cats are water haters.
Most of my cats will hop into the tub if they hear water running. Some cats even jump up to the sink or watch the water in the toilet as it swirls around.

It’s like how you socialize a dog to basically desensitize it to various stimuli and in turn make it a more stable individual. If you have a dog that’s never seen a car, you can bet it won’t like it the first time it sees one. If a cat has never been bathed (since most cats have never NEEDED to get a bath, so never got wet as a kitten) they don’t like it at first.

Personally I’ve washed numerous cats; they feel much better afterward without the bugs chewing their skin apart, and you can see it in the way they totally relax while fluffing up.

It’s the act of being restrained that generally freaks them out in my experience.

Hey people just gonna give you a head’s up.Showering your cat is not a bad idea or cruel unless you really are trying to kill them.You should use a bath tub rather than a shower true but, its no reason to get mad and making threats its face was photoshopped so it will look very sad.(No LOLcats were harmed in the making of this picture) Thanks!

For your information, as long as you are very careful and watchful, giving a cat a shower periodically is NOT — I repeat NOT — that stressful. It all depends on the cat. I had a cat that would come in and take a bath with me. So cool your jets about this. That cat is not actually being hurt.
